Frequently asked questions

Can I still have three vehicles on my permit?

Yes you can. The system will allow you to swap the vehicle through the online account. Please note only 1 vehicle can be parked on site at a time and it must show as the ‘Active’ vehicle on your permit.

Where does my permit cover me to park?

The permit is only valid within Ramsgate Harbour parking areas or Royal Harbour (formerly Leopold Street) Multi Storey Car Park. Please note that only the ground floor is available 24/7 and the remaining floors are closed between 19.00 and 07.00 hours daily. This permit is not valid in Pier Yard or Military Road pay and display car parks.

How many permits can I have?

There is a limited amount of car parking available within the Marina area. The purchase of permits is restricted to boat owners and marina property lessees for their specific use, and cannot be purchased for third parties. The car parking system is as follows:

Permit 1: This will be for the berth holder only, at the annual rate, and will facilitate parking within the marina area and Royal Harbour multi storey.

Permit 2: This is for a second berth holder / crew member, at the annual rate, and will facilitate the same parking zones as the first permit.

Permits 3-5: For additional and up to the total of allowance, the annual fee is as per the published fees and charges: This will enable parking at Royal Harbour multi storey only. Parking within the marina area will be prohibited, failure to comply may result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued.

Will I have anything to display?

No, the new system will know that your vehicle has a valid permit. The Civil Enforcement Officers will scan your vehicle registration which will show them whether there is a valid permit.

What happens if I get a new vehicle?

You can transfer the permit to your new vehicle. To do so you will need to log in to your online account and change the vehicle registration. Once this is approved you will be sent a payment request for the £5 administration fee.

Can I apply for a permit at the Harbour Office?

The Harbour Office staff will no longer accept paper applications. You can only apply and pay online through the Thanet Council website.

Will my permit be valid straight away?

Only car park season discs will be valid straight away. Any other permit will need to be approved. You should receive notification of this approval within two working days.

I no longer need my permit, what should I do?

You can cancel this on your account and we will process the cancellation.
